Thus, the Chairmanship of the FAO / WHO Coordinating Committee for Europe will provide Kazakhstan with a unique opportunity to effectively implement the national strategy for food security from the experience of the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and harmonize and apply food standards for maximizing business comfort, potential of the country, promotion of domestic products to the world market and integration into the global economy.

It should be noted that for more than 50 years the Codex member countries have been working to harmonize the standards of food products implemented in international markets. These standards have helped to increase consumer safety, improve public health and have helped reduce unnecessary trade barriers between countries. Such joint work enables countries to acquire a high-quality and safe food product, guaranteed by the Codex standards.

Let us recall that the Codex Alimentarius Commission is a joint intergovernmental body of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and has 188 member countries from 7 geographical regions of the world. The Codex Commission consists of six regional Coordinating Committees (Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America) and 18 Committees on common issues and goods.
