Caution, mites: The most dangerous areas of the Almaty region have been identified.
Осторожно, клещи: Выявлены наиболее опасные районы Алматинской области 12.06.2017

Studies have shown that the Aksu, Alakol, Enbekshikazakh, Eskeldinsky, Karasai, Kerbulak, Raiymbek, Sarkan, Talgar, Uyghur regions, Taldykorgan and Tekeli are endemic on the territory of the Almaty region. Annually about 10 cases of tick-borne encephalitis are registered here.

To prevent infection with tick-borne encephalitis, experts advise to follow preventive measures.

First and foremost, this is the use of adapted clothing, which will not allow the crawling of ticks, as well as repellent agents, which treat open areas of the body and clothing (in the form of circular bands around the knees, ankles and chest). If ordinary clothes are used, then it should be light tones and cover the open areas of the body; a headdress is required, long hair also needs to be hidden under it.

Disease of tick-borne encephalitis can be prevented by vaccination. However, it will only help if the conditions are met:

1. The vaccination is carried out for a couple of months before the start of the season (usually in February);

2. The vaccine should be done regularly - every year.

Let us note, in Kazakhstan annually from 8 to 11 thousand people turn to medical organizations for bites of ticks, and on endemic territories - from 6 to 8 thousand people. More than 30% of bitten children are children under 14 years old. Overall, in 2016, 11,356 people turned to the medical organizations with tick bites, of which 10,443 (92%) received preventive treatment with immunoglobulin.
